Number one prizeBack in early May, as I was planning (as if you could not guess) a campaign for more reader interaction and newsletter subscribers, I put together a “June Summer Blast Giveaway”.

Thanks to my fabulous sponsors and friends in the survival and prepping industry, I came up with ten prizes to be awarded at random to participants in the contest.

Today I am thrilled to announce the winners!  Congratulations to the following readers that were notified on Thursday night:

I want to thank everyone for their participation – you are all winners in my book.  The new newsletter subscribers recently received their first News Flash and yet to do is a compilation of the list of favorite Backdoor Survival articles.

But the really big news is that the “Ask Gaye a Question” response was so awesome that with the help of my friend George Ure who is visiting for two weeks, I will be putting together a short little eBook, Survival Woman Wants a Word With You”.

Another Hat Tip to the Contest Sponsors

Before closing, I want to give a huge hat tip to the contest sponsors who so generously donated the prizes.  Please visit these companies and if you decide to buy something, mention that you heard about them on Backdoor Survival!

Enjoy your next adventure through common sense and thoughtful preparation!

Bargain Bin: Last week I went to handgun school and while browsing around the retail store at the facility, I found a unique type of what I will call a “pepper gun”.  For times when deadly force is not required and not warranted, this is the way to go.

Kimber Pepperblaster 2:  Unlike typical pepper spray, PepperBlaster II isn’t aerosolized. Rather, each unit contains two cylinders with powerful concentrations of near-pharmaceutical grade oleoresin capsicum (OC). Each cylinder is driven by a pyrotechnic charge and a piston, and the solution travels at 90mph, giving it enough energy to wrap around glasses or a face mask.  The range is 13 feet.

This month Emergency Essentials is featuring a great deal on their freeze dried fruit combo.

Now I eat a lot of fruit (usually three whole fruits a night as a bedtime snack) and in a SHTF situation, fruits will be something I really miss. When I saw the fruit combo on sale at Emergency Essentials, I jumped on it. Combined with some home-made yogurt – well, the thought sounds simply divine!

The selection includes Apple Dices, Bananas, Peaches, Pineapple Dices, Blueberries and Strawberries.

  1. Surviving in MT, duct tape has been used wrapped around the hands to stop frost burn. This one is my favorite (don it been there) Take the inside cylinder of a roll of toilet paper out. Then find a metal canister i.e. coffee can, place toilet paper inside w/ matches & on the outside duct tape a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Now the heater of the rig has gone out, you are freezing, stranded, no cell phone reception. Bingo. Pour the rubbing alcohol upon the toilet paper, crack the window, and light, instant heat. Also, use that beat up bear smashed metal cup to make some warm coffee. I always keep 2 rubbing alcohols along for any emergency.

  2. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!! you are a GODSEND. this so helps me out. GOD BLESS YOU s.
