Summer Survival Blast: Win an Ultimate Volcano Cooking Combo

Print Friendly

Happy 4th of July everyone!  What better way to celebrate than to kick off the next terrific giveaway in the Backdoor Survival Summer Blast.

Up next is something you will covet for sure.  The Ultimate Volcano Cooking Combo is up for grabs thanks to one of my favorite preparedness vendors, Emergency Essentials!  For those of you that are not familiar with the Volcano Stove, I purchased an earlier model, the Volcano II, way back at the beginning of my prepping career.  Dare I say it is the best charcoal grill I have ever owned?

ultimate volcano cooking combo giveaway

More about that in a bit because what is up for grabs is not the basic model that I but own a model that includes all of these goodies:

Volcano Collapsible Propane Stove/Grill
12″ Dutch Oven
Volcano Handy Handle
Volcano Reversible Griddle
Volcano Flexible Skewers
Volcano Cookbook & Technical Manual

Heck, I should enter just for the propane feature alone although keep in mind that this model can be used to cook with the included propane burner, charcoal briquettes, or wood.

How to Enter the Volcano Stove Giveaway – The Rules

All you need to do to enter the giveaway is to select one or more of the options on the Rafflecopter form below.  You can sign in with your email account or Facebook, the choice is yours.

The best way to start is by clicking “Easy Entry for Everyone”.  No social media account is required for this option.  After that, each option you select represents another entry to win.  There are lots of options so pick and choose or select them all.

Please note that the winning item can only be shipped within the United States so if you live elsewhere, you will need a US shopping address.

The giveaway will end on Thursday, July 10th and the winner will be notified by email on or before July 13th.  Note that the winning entry will be verified and the winner will have 24 hours to respond.

About Emergency Essentials

I promote products from Emergency Essentials a lot because I purchase a lot of stuff from them.  Using my $100 a month budget, I have been able to acquire over a year’s supply of freeze dried foods and other items.  Not only that, but over the years I have developed a fantastic relationship with their team who assists me in bringing product specials to the forefront.

Full disclosure:  I do earn a small commission on all Emergency Essentials purchases made through the links on Backdoor Survival.  Regardless, the price you pay is the same so this becomes a win-win for all of us.

You know how I love that Mountain House Chili Mac?  It is kind of a joke around here; when in doubt, eat Chili Mac.  On the other hand, this week Shelly and I have been feasting on Mountain House Lasagna.  It is our new favorite and as the Survival Hubby says, time to order a case!  Of course it helps that it is on sale this month for 50% off or $17.49 a can.

MH Lasagna

And yes, we do eat freeze-dried food all the time.  Not only is it convenient for those nights when I am writing blog articles until the wee hours, but with the addition of a green salad, it is much less expensive and healthier than eating out.

Okay, off my soapbox for now.  You want to enter to win so let’s get going!

The Final Word

I reviewed my own Volcano Stove in the article Survival Woman Review: Volcano Collapsible II Stove.  Wow, that seems like a long time ago but I loved it then and I love it now.  You are going to want to enter and win this one for sure.

That’s it for now. Let’s all get geared up for summer with some great giveaways from Backdoor Survival!

Enjoy your next adventure through common sense and thoughtful preparation!

Bargain Bin: Cooking outdoors?  Then for sure you need some fire-starting and cast iron goodies. These items are good not only for cooking outdoors, but as part of your survival kit in general.

Lodge Logic 12-Inch Pre-Seasoned Skillet: This purchase changed the way I cook. I use my cast iron cookware for everything from burgers, to bacon and eggs, to biscuits. Be sure to select the Value pack Skillet with Silicone Handle which is less money and a better deal.  Also, don’t forget the Lodge Set of 2 Pan Scrapers, a must have for cleaning those food bits from your cast iron cookware.

Lodge Dutch Oven/Camp Stove:  I originally purchased this Dutch oven because it was so darn cute.  But over time, I have learned to love it for its versatility.  Remember, a camp stove is designed so that you can bake with it by arranging charcoal on top of the lid as well as underneath the Dutch Oven itself.

Lodge 5-Quart Double Dutch Oven and Casserole with Skillet Cover:  This is another cool piece.  This Dutch Oven does not have legs and is designed for indoor use – but it can be used outdoors too.  Just don’t forget the Ove Gloves.

US Forge 400 Welding Gloves Lined Leather: These well-priced gloves provide complete heat and burn protection. They are perfect for keeping your hands and arms safe while cooking outdoors over an open fire.

Swedish Firesteel: Using this basic pocket fire-starter, you can get a nice fire going under almost any conditions.

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 15 Inch Cast-Iron Skillet:  Similar to the 12” skillet only bigger.  Actually, quite huge (and yes, I finally have one!).

  1. Entered, and I always vote for BDS!

And, yes, the Lasangna from MH is so good that I have to force myself to not eat it all!

  2. I love cooking in my dutchoven at home and at the campground. The idea of cooking on a propane flame changes the game. I look forward to testing it out with the family.

  3. Happy 4th of July to you and best wishes, and many thanks for all you do putting BDS out every day. I have been a devoted reader for seems like years

  9. I would love to win this! Hope you and survival hubby have a great 4th! I’m on your site daily and it’s always a great source of valuable info – THANKS!

  10. I like the contest. Definitely not comfortable with the idea of advertising prepped stuff on my social media for extra entries.

  11. Our “Gather the Wild Foods Group” would love to use this combo at our meetings. Tasting fresh & on the spot – is what everyone loves. This would be a great promotional set to our group.

  12. I really appreciate all the work you do on our behalf. I do order a lot of the items you recommend from Amazon and EE and I do use your links to get to their websites. I was thrilled to read about mud ovens and hope to build one when we move in a few months. Not having an oven has been foremost on my mind. I thought about getting a Herc oven, but just wasn’t ready to spend the $ on one.

Thanks again for helping us prepare…..

  13. This is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it! Thanks for all you do to help us be better prepared.

  14. What a wonderful giveaway! Thank you so much for all the work you do keeping us informed and up to date on preparing.

  15. I’m fairly new to prepping, but have become really into the lifestyle and hope to continue prepping for years to come.

  16. Let me join all of the other responders and throw my 2 cents into the ring. This is a great website, an awesome giveaway, and I don’t have one, yet!

  17. I love my cast iron dutch oven, but it’s not a “true” dutch oven, because it has no legs…this entire set looks awesome!

  18. This would be an awsome addition to anyone’s preps. I know I could use it for sure. Thanks for the great info and give-a-way’s.

  19. I grew up with food storage as a part of life. Plus, being an Eagle Scout, being prepared seems second nature. It makes me grin that “prepping” has become such a fad and business when it has always seemed just a natural way to live. I guess we all start somewhere. This giveaway would be great for both new and old “peppers”. Thanks Gaye.

    • That is one of the benefits of the prepper movement. More businesses, manufacturers, and people are making prepper items at affordable cost. It would have been difficult to find anything like the Lifestraw, or a Sawyer Mini before the prepper movement. Now you can find them at Wallyworld for about $20.
      Ain’t that great? 🙂

  20. Thank you Gaye, for all you do for us! Happy 4th!
This is an awesome giveaway, and I would really be able to use this!

  21. Your site rocks! Thank you for all the help and info you so willingly share. And your giveaways are awesome!

  22. Happy 4th to everyone!! And thank you so much Gay for all of the wonderful information you share and for these great drawings too!

  23. Gaye, your blog is my go to site for all emergency prepardness gear & I’ve made several purchases thru your links. Love the book reviews. The authors that you’ve chosen bring their experiences with “survival emergencis” to life and make you start to think “What would I do?” before it happens. Thanks for staying in the know and sharing with us.

  24. I entered. I like that I can find easy information. Also, for freeze dried foods, I like Thrive foods.

  25. We bought a Volcano back in 1999 or 2000. Still using it, still lovin’ it. Still don’t know how to roast a chicken on the 3 triangles thingy- unless you must cook 3 chickens instead of just 1.

  26. We have been wanting one of these volcanos for soooooo long. To top it off, my Dutch oven was broken in putt last move. Winning both would be a dream!

  27. Thanks for the giveaway.
Our favorite MH is the chicken and noodles, the lasagna is my 16yo second favorite, I like how the cheese is kind of gooey you. I guess I didn’t expect that with freeze dried food.

  28. I have been eyeing this product for quite a bit and would really love one. It would be a dream to win this [and then I could retask future funding that was aimed at getting this to improve/advance other things on my prepping list].

  29. I am just signing up for your emails. We are just getting started and I love all the info on your website.

  30. I’ve wanted this stove for ages. I like the ability to use a variety of fuels. Sure hope I win. One thing I’ve learned from following your blog –REDUNDANCY. It will take multiples and variety to successfully deal with emergency times.

  31. Awesome prize. Thank you for the giveaway and thank you for maintaining such an informative website. Happy 4th!

  32. Thank you for doing this giveaway!
I’m following you as much as I can – newbie here, having much to learn.

  33. I absolutely would love to have a rocket stove because I have a family of seven and we are prepping to have stuff in stock in case some kind of emergency comes up where we loose power and have to depend on alternative sources to fix our food. I have always wanted one since I saw it about two years ago and my hubby and I have both talked about it and we have decided that it would be the most efficient to have in case we need to survive outside the electrical grid for any amount of time. ~Beverly Toney.

  34. Love the website so yes, I voted for you. Thank you for the opportunity to win this great prize. I’ve wanted one for a long time.

  35. I love Emergency Essentials. A great company to deal with. Very pleased with everything I have ordered. Excellent service. Please remember the true meaning of the 4th of July. May God Bless America Again.

  36. The Volcano looks like a great cooker and would love to have it as a great addition to my “Hurricane” preparations. Thanks for your great tips and advice!

  37. My banker says that if I could stay away from Emergency Essentials, Midway, Wal-Mart, and Lowes, I would be a rich man.

  38. We just had an unexpected power outage (clear skies) right in the middle of making dinner on our electric stove. Would have been nice to have something like this to finish cooking instead of going out for dinner.

  39. One of the better ways to cook. A couple of friends have these and I am saving to get the set myself so a win would help the budget a lot.

    Leslie

  40. Thank you so much….you always have the most amazing giveaways, which introduce us to great preparedness products!

  41. I was just thinking this morning that we preppers appear to be a little “out there,” ’til something happens. Then, we’re the smart ones.
My electricity went out this morning around 3:30. It wasn’t too bad during the night, as the night was cool, so we weren’t overly heated.
In the morning, however, there were things to do that required measures that were out of the ordinary. Some of these things required water, for instance.
All of a sudden, my supply of water down in the basement didn’t seem so “nutty” to my husband.
My opinion: Better to be prepared and not need it, than to be unprepared and out of luck. I’m so glad that I’m looking ahead.

  42. Awesome giveaway! And I voted. If there are misspelled words it’s because of the Food City Salute I just watched on your facebook page, tissues please…thanks!

  43. Been saving up some money to buy one of awesome cooking gizmos. This would be fantastic to win. It would be great for camping or powerless cooking.

  44. I would LOVE to win the Ultimate Volcano package! It would solve many of my needs all at once — I need a powerless cooking alternative, a dutch oven, and a griddle! I have been looking at the Volcano for several years now, but just couldn’t fit it in my budget.

  45. I have been working on prepping for over a year and this item would help immensely. It would give me another way of cooking besides my gas stove

  46. This would be a cool thing to own. Our wood cook stove would be too hot to use in the summer, so we need an alternative way to cook meals in hot weather.

  47. What a wonderful prize! I would love to win! I enjoy dutch oven cooking, have never tried it with a volcano stove before.

  48. I am absolutely in love with your website and the information that you provide. I am just learning the foundation of being prepared and find your website incredibly helpful. Thanks for all the work you put into it.

  49. Hello! Stumbled upon this blog when I was looking for info on an an earth oven. So glad I did because lots of info crammed into this site.thanks for opportunity to enter such a contest.

  50. Great giveaway! I hope to win. Just the last year started reading and learning everything I can on self reliance, prepping and homesteading. I realized that this is what my grandparents did without calling it any of these names. I always thought they did it because of the times they grew up in, which in part I’m sure they did, but they were looking out for their family if the time ever came when we needed it. Memories of things they did have came back to me and are a great inspiration. Thank you a great blog!

  51. Another great giveaway. The info you share is extremely valuable and the chances for great freebies are a bonus. Thanks Gaye!

  52. Thank you for a Great Giveaway! I love finding new websites that represent things I am looking for. I cook from scratch all the time which is uncommon these days. I have a container garden and I work away from home full time. Thanks again for the Great Giveaway!

  53. I hadn’t realized until now that we had so much in common. BDS (Backdoorsurvival) and BDS (Baisch, Dewitte, Sandy [my nickname!]).

  54. What I love about your blog is that you are down to earth and unpretentious. No haughty attitude like you know so much more than the rest of us. I feel like we could be good neighbors and would have a lot in common. Not so much where I live now.

  55. A volcano Cooker would be great to have!! I would practice cooking on it daily. I enjoy learneing to cook, bake, etc using new ways.

  56. I have been drooling over one of the Volcanos in the EE catalog for past few years. Just not enough stretch in the budget. I get a few dollars saved then we have another “emergency” to cover.I keep putting it on my Christmas list every year.

  57. I don’t remember if I entered this contest or not. If not, I hope I win. If so, oops! Love your site Gaye!

  58. I am really starting to get into the idea of prepping and to put up food and supplies. This package would be a great addition to my slowly building supplies!

  59. I guess I’m 4 votes short because I don’t tweet nor do I pin anything.Oh well, this is a great great site without politics or religion, I don’t do those either.

  60. I would love to have this stove! I have been saving a bit out of my prep budget for a few weeks for larger equipment such as this, so this would help as I could use that money for a water filter or something else I need! thanks for all the great giveaways!

  61. Guys… It looks like an awesome set. I go camping allot with my 7 grandchildren and could really use the set when the dinner bell rings.

  62. Been looking at one of the Volcano cookers for about a year. Used one of my friends and loved it. Boy what a treat it would be to win this one. Thanks for a great website.

  63. I appreciate all of the great information you share on this site! We have been researching the Volcano Stove and even bought one as a gift for a dear friend but we still need one!
Thanks, again, for all of your hard work!

  64. This would be an awesome set to win. Would be a great addition to the kitchen box I’m slowly piecing together.

  65. I always read your posts and have learned a lot. Also vote for you almost daily and enter all of your giveaways. You’re doing a great service here! Keep up the great work!

  66. Since I did not win, this is another item to put on my “buy when I have saved up enough money”. At this rate, being almost 69 on a limited income, it may take me 20 years to get all the goodies. That’s okay. One step at a time.

I was thinking this morning that I have been a “kind of” prepper. Since I retired and do not have to go out in the snow I now start in September stoking up on canned goods. Here in the Pacific Northwest every 2 to 3 years we get a lot of snow. It usually only lasts a couple of days. But — sometimes a cold snap comes with the snow and then things really get nasty. Even after the snow stops falling we may have a week or so of frozen snow. For over 40 years I had to walk, bus and drive in that stuff. Now, no longer. Yeah!!! So I have stocked up on non-perishable food for those times. Never thought about water though.

And, years ago, while still working, a fellow employee’s Boy Scout son was selling an emergency candle kit. It had 5 candles in a can and the lid of the can was the candleholder. I bought one and have kept it handy ever since. And have used it the few times we have had power outages.

So now with our “it’s about time” big one to hit, I am starting to prepare. But like I said, one step at a time. I’m slowly building up a water and food supply, along with a camp stove, propane, hand cracked lantern and radio, first aid supplies, etc. The basics to start with.

So, the fancy stuff, like the Volcano stove and the solar water purifier you wrote about are on the “after the basics” and “when I have saved up the money” lists.

It’s 5:30 in the morning and I’m rambling, as usual. Signing off for now.
